The expression of this ministry has looked different throughout the years. Currently, the Ministry to Women is experienced in three main ways. Through these activities, we are able to live out our core values so women in different corners of this nation fulfill God’s call to the Navigators.
- Life on Life engagements.
- Quarterly prayer meetings.
- Annual/Biannual conferences
Life on life Engagements
Ladies have mentors and are mentoring other ladies, as the primary way of advancing the Gospel of Jesus and his Kingdom into the nations. The Gospel is advanced in the context of the communities God has placed us in. These engagements look different in different contexts. Ladies are passionate to know, love and become like Jesus, wherever they are and rely on the truth and sufficiency of the Scriptures for the whole of their lives.
They apply what they learn about God, and his ways from his word to every situation they encounter in life, and teach those around them to do the same. In this way, their lives and those of the ladies they interact with are transformed by the Gospel. In this manner transforming individuals, families and whole communities. Women have a special way of relating in their families and relational networks that present a unique opportunity to advance the gospel.
Not only through Spiritual generations, but also physical generations when they have children and deliberately bring them up in the ways of the Lord. Women have a way of remaining connected to their biological families, and becoming a part of their new families when they get married as well. They remain involved in family networks that need the gospel. In most African cultures, when one became a Christian, they left their families and everything about their culture and moved to the mission to be with the family of believers.
We now know that there is no better place for the light to shine than in the darkness. We can bring the light of the gospel to our homes and family networks, even before we go into the nations. Women are well placed in families to do this and only need to be intentional. Part of this ministry’s mandate is to empower women to do this effectively and in turn learn how to empower others to do the same.
Quarterly prayer meetings
In line with the value, to have expectant faith and prevailing prayer rooted in the promises of God,” women’s ministry continuously meets for prayer. These times are not only useful for presenting the ministries needs before God but also serves as a wonderful opportunity of sharing what God is doing in our lives. It encourages and empowers the ladies in different contexts of learning; where the old can learn from the young and the young can teach their elders about what life is like in their setting and how the gospel can be brought into those settings.
When Jesus gave us the Great Commission as believers just before he ascended into heaven, he promised to be with us until the very end of the age. He is with us in the Person of the Holy Spirit who resides in every believer. The Ministry to Women, in order to be part of this great work, will rely on the leading and empowerment of the Holy Spirit like those first disciples in the Upper room who did not move until they received power from the Holy Spirit. (Acts 1:8)
